IR-based Low-cost Portable Turbine Spirometer

Abstract

Our project aims to create an affordable spirometer using common materials and an Arduino UNO Rev3 Microcontroller. Spirometry is vital for assessing lung function and diagnosing conditions like COPD, but high costs limit access. Our low-cost model features a lightweight IR sensor to measure airflow and lung volumes accurately. By integrating essential sensors and simplifying design, we hope to provide a functional and accessible tool for evaluating lung health, making spirometry more available to those in need.
